Madan Mohan had composed this song more than a decade ago, in 1952. However, it was never picked by any director for one reason or the other till this film.[1]
Lata Mangeshkar was unwell when this song was to be recorded. Since the song was required for the film shoot, Madan Mohan recorded it in his voice. Actress Sadhana, on whom the song was filmed, had to lip-sync to Madan Mohan's voice! The song was recorded in Lata's voice after she recovered.[2]
The tune of this song was plagiarised by music director Vedha for the Telugu film song "O Na Raja Raava Raava" ("Aame Evaru", 1966).[3]
Kishore Desai played the mandolin in this song.[4]
