Set in the boisterous slums of Mumbai, Malaal is the tale of a blossoming, inter-class romance. Drawing on the Maharashtrian traditions of its location, the soundtrack veers from Vishal Dadlani's opening salvo "Aila Re", where dhols and dholaks are struck with celebratory abandon; to "Udhal Ho", a nod to the festive aartis of the city’s famed Ganesh Chaturthi processions. An album highlight comes in the form of mellow closer "Ek Malaal”, a minimalistic showcase for Shail Hada's flawless voice.
