Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first Indian film to be shot in 70mm. The film's opening credits proclaimed, "Pachhi presents India's first 70 mm Technicolor movie".[1]
  • The film was dedicated to Frank Worrell. The former West Indian cricketer made a guest appearance in the film but died before its release. The film opened with filmmaker Pachhi's dedication to him - "Dedicated to the loving memory of Sir Frank Worrell, world famous test cricketer, dean of the Trinidad University, a good friend, the wittiest of men and guest star of this film. His death deprives us of a friend, philosopher and guide".
  • The film's premise, its title, and the lyrics of its title song were perhaps inspired by the novel "Around The World In 80 Days" by the French writer Jules Verne.
  • Sadhana was originally signed to play the female lead in this film. However, she became unavailable after she developed a thyroid disorder and was replaced by Rajshree.[2]
  • Rajshree met and fell in love with an American student named Greg Chapman while shooting for this film in the US. In the next two years, she gave up her Hindi film career, got married to Chapman, and moved to America for good.[3]

    Song

  • Jaane Bhi De Sanam Mujhe - The tune of the song's mukhda may have been inspired by The Beatles' song "I'll Get You" (1963).[4]
  • Josh-E-Jawani Haay Re Haay - This song was an adaptation of the Tamil superhit song "Nenjathai Alli" ("Kadhalikka Neram Illa", 1964) composed by the music duo of M.S. Viswanathan and T.K. Ramamoorthy, written by Kannadasan, and sung by Yesudas, L.R. Eswari and P. Susheela.[5]
