Trivia

    Album

  • The huge success of this film resulted in adaptations in a number of languages. It was adapted in Tamil as "Vaazhkai" (1983), in Malayalam as "Jeevitham" (1984), in Kannada as "Kaliyuga" (1984) and in Telugu as "O Thandri Theerpu" (1985).
  • Gulshan Grover was a struggling actor when he bagged a role in this film with the help of actress Shabana Azmi. The story goes that when this film was being launched, Grover had bumped into the actress at the home of their mutual friend, Vinay Shukla. When Shabana Azmi had noticed Gulshan Grover's torn socks, the two had gotten around to talking about the difficulty Grover was facing in landing films. Shabana had taken Grover's photos and shown them to the producer, director Mohan Kumar, who had then signed him up for this film. The film's success had given Gulshan Grover's career a big boost.
