Trivia

    Album

  • This was filmmaker S.M.S. Naidu's remake of a hit bilingual film he had made the previous year, titled "Malaikallan" (1954) in Tamil and "Aggi Ramudu" (1954) in Telugu. Naidu also remade the film in Malayalam as "Thaskaraveeran" (1957) and in Kannada as "Bettada Kalla" (1957).
  • Producer S.M. Naidu wanted all the songs for this film composed within a month's time. He first approached Naushad who turned him down saying he could not compose even one song in that time. C. Ramchandra then took on the challenge and composed all the songs within the stipulated period.[MR3]
  • Dilip Kumar revealed in his autobiography "The Substance and the Shadow" that he took up this film based on the advice of a psychiatrist. When Kumar complained to Dr. W.D. Nichols that he was "seized by a morbid outlook as a result of playing ill-fated characters", the doctor advised him to work on comedy films instead. There was another impetus behind his decision to work in this film. Kumar said that when he visited producer Sashadhar Mukerji to get his opinion on the matter, filmmaker K. Asif happened to be there and jokingly challenged him to make it work - "Karke dikhaiye". The film ended up being a big success. According to Dilip Kumar, it gave him "the much-needed confidence to forge ahead with a feeling of emancipation and a sense of achievement".[MR64]

    Song

  • Aplam Chaplam - This song may have inspired the title of a 1961 film.[1]
  • Kitna Hasin Hai Mausam - Dilip Kumar had wanted Talat Mahmood to sing this song for him. Since the busy singer was not available, C. Ramchandra himself sang it in Talat Mahmood's style. Dilip Kumar was delighted to hear the song and approved its inclusion in the film.[MR3]
