Trivia

    Album

  • This film was launched in 1969 with the title "Anjana Safar". However, it was delayed by many years, ostensibly because it ran into trouble with the Censor Board due to a kissing scene in it. Its audio records were issued in 1974, and the film was certified and released in 1978.[MR1]
  • If this film had been released on schedule, it would have been actress Rekha's first Hindi film. Instead, her first Hindi film release was "Sawan Bhadon" (1970).[1]
  • This film was based on H. Rider Haggard's 1885 novel "King Solomon's Mines".
  • This film was launched with director Raja Nawathe at the helm. When the film's shooting commenced, Raja Nawathe, producer Kuljit Pal and actor Biswajeet hatched a plot to shoot a kissing scene involving Biswajeet and Rekha, without taking Rekha's permission. This scene was shot for five minutes, without any cuts, even as the 15-year-old Rekha cried helplessly as Biswajeet forcibly kissed her. Producer Kuljit Pal, however, rejected this allegation and stated that the scene was shot with Rekha's consent.[MR18]
  • The opening credits of this film used the song "Voodoonight" (1977) by Boney M.[2]
  • Writer Rahi Masoom Raza debuted as a lyricist in this film.

    Song

  • Aaja Gori Dil Mein Rakh Len Tujhe - This song was adapted from the popular Harry Belafonte song "Coconut Woman", originally recorded in 1957.[3]
  • Ae Dil Meri Jaan Teri Manzil Hai Kahan - This song was based on Ennio Morricone's theme for the Clint Eastwood Western "For A Few Dollars More" (1965).[4]
  • Ae Dil Meri Jaan Teri Manzil Hai Kahan - This was the only Hindi film song sung by actor Biswajeet.
  • Honth Yeh Mere Aag Se Nahin Kam - This song was featured in the film but was not part of its audio records. The first line of the song seems inspired by the Carnatic song "Aadu Paambe".
