Trivia

    Album

  • The film, initially titled "Padhi Likhi Bibi", was an adaptation of the Marathi novel "Dr. Kadambari" by Nath Madhav. The Marathi film "Shikleli Baiko" (1959) was also based on the same novel.[MR21]
  • Leela Chitnis and her son Manvendra Chitnis worked together in this film.
  • Music records for only four songs in the film were issued, the lyrics for all of which were credited to Majrooh Sultanpuri. The lyricist for the remaining four songs is presumed to be Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, who was listed along with Majrooh in the film's opening credits.

    Song

  • Pawan Diwani Na Maane - The song was based on the tune of the Bengali non-film song "Aalo Chhaya Dola" composed by Himangshu Dutta and sung by S.D. Burman.[1]
  • Ae Hai Dilruba Tujhko Kya Pata (Pappa Jamaarlo) - Kersi Lord played the accordion as well as the bongo in this song. His brother Burjor and their father Cawas played the rhythm in it. According to Kersi, S.D. Burman assembled one of the biggest orchestras of his film career for this song.[2][MR21]
  • Jaani Tum To Dole Daga Dai Ke - S.D. Burman had originally composed the tune of this song in 1957 for Guru Dutt's shelved Bengali film "Gouri", which was supposed to launch Geeta Dutt as a singing star. The original Bengali song, "Jani Bhromara Kaino", was recorded in Geeta Dutt's voice but wasn't officially released. S.D. Burman also recorded a non-film version of the song in his own voice. The music director had recorded another song for "Gouri" in his own voice - "Banshi Sune Aar Kaaj Naay". He reused the tune of this song later for the Hindi film song "Neend Churaye Chain Churaye" ("Anuraag", 1972).[3][4][5][6]
  • Main Kal Phir Miloongi Isi Gulsitaan Mein - S.D. Burman reused the tune of this song for another Hindi film song - "Kisi Ki Mohabbat Mein Sab Kuchh Bhula Ke" ("Kaise Kahoon", 1964). The 1964 song was sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle.[7]
