The recording of this film's music was plagued by many problems. The director, Amiya Chakraborty, had assembled a team consisting of Anil Biswas as music director, C. Ramchandra as assistant music director - despite the fact that he was already an established music director in his own right - and Kavi Pradeep as lyricist. Anil Biswas and Kavi Pradeep did not get along. Anil Biswas felt that Pradeep was interfering with his work and Pradeep was of the opinion that veteran composer's music was becoming dated. After recording a few songs, things came to a boil and Anil Biswas left the film. When the film's director replaced him with C. Ramchandra, Lata Mangeshkar took exception and refused to sing the remaining songs in the film.[MR4]
