  • This film was based on the Malayalam short story "Vanmarangal Veezhumpol" ("When Big Trees Fall") written by N.S. Madhavan. Published in 1993, this story was about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
  • Sashi Kumar, the director of this film, is a well-known personality in Malayalam media and the founder of the Asianet TV channel.
  • This was the debut film of actor Angad Bedi. He is the son of the Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi.
  • This film featured two Indian Express journalists, Rahul Bedi and Joseph Maliakan, who had covered the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, playing themselves.[1]
