Trivia

    Album

  • This film was an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's story "Khudito Pasan". The story had been used previously for a Bengali film of the same name. The Bengali film, directed by Tapan Sen and with music by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, was released in 1960.
  • This was the only Hindi film produced by Dinanath Kala Mandir. The production house was named after the theatre actor and musician Dinanath Mangeshkar. Dinanath Mangeshkar's son Hridaynath Mangeshkar produced the film and composed its score and his daughter Lata Mangeshkar presented the film and sang most of its songs.
  • The female lead role in this film was initially offered to Sridevi. The role went to Dimple Kapadia when Sridevi declined the offer.
  • It appears that there was a delay in the release of this film. While its music was released in 1990 and the film was certified the same year, it was released in theatres only in 1991.

    Song

  • Yaara Seeli Seeli - This song was based on the Punjabi song "Ve Main Chori Chori" composed and sung by the Pakistani folk artist Reshma.[1]
  • Yaara Seeli Seeli - This song may have inspired the title of a 2015 Hindi film.[2]
  • Suniyo Ji Araj Mhariyo - Hridaynath Mangeshkar had used a similar tune previously for a non-film Mirza Ghalib ghazal sung by Lata Mangeshkar, "Rone Se Aur Ishq Mein".[3]
  • Kesariya Baalma - I - This song was adapted from a very popular Rajasthani folk song.
  • Kesariya Baalma - I - Gulzar wanted two versions of this song in the film - one by Lata Mangeshkar and the other by the Pakistani singer Mehdi Hassan. However, Mehdi Hassan couldn't travel to India since he didn't get a visa and Lata ended up recording both versions of the song.[4]
