Album

This film was a remake of the hit Telugu film "Gundamma Katha" (1962), starring N.T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Savitri and Jamuna. The Telugu film was also remade in Tamil as "Manithan Maravillai" (1962), with Gemini Ganesan replacing N.T. Rama Rao among the lead actors. Producer B. Nagi Reddy dedicated this film to Chakrapani, who co-produced and wrote the original films, and directed the Tamil version. The dedication read - "Dedicated to the sacred memory of my partner Sri Chakrapani who conceived this story and made it into an evergreen super-hit movie in Telugu and Tamil".
