Real-life father and son, Shashi Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor, played father and son in this film. Shashi Kapoor was also the film's producer.
This film depicted the training of Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots and described events leading up to the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The IAF supported the making of this film since the year of the film's release was their golden jubilee year. The film was not a mainstream success but over the years it has come to be lauded for its authenticity and its path-breaking aerial photography.
