Akriti Kakkar is a playback singer, actor and VJ. She was born in Delhi and learnt Hindustani classical music from her mother and under her guru Byomkesh Banerjee. She is also trained in Rabindra Sangeet and jazz music.
She started her musical career young by winning the Zee TV National Music Talent Hunt "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" in 1999 and as a member of music directors' Kalyanji-Anandji's music troupe "Little Stars".
Her debut song in Bollywood was "Chham Se Woh Aa Jaye" in the film "Dus" (2004). Some of her popular songs include the title song of "Johny Gaddar" (2006), "Khudaya Khair" ("Billu Barber", 2009) and "Abhi Abhi (Duet)" ("Jism 2", 2012).
She also acted in the film "We R Friends" in 2006. She released her first independent album "Akriti" in 2010.
