DJ Aqeel rose to fame as a disc jockey who then dabbled in composing and singing as well. It was his “Shake It Daddy Mix” in the noughties that made him a popular figure in the music industry. Even with eight albums to his credit, his most popular song, arguably has to be the single “Vaada Raha”, a remix of the song from the film “Yeh Wada Raha” (1982).

The soundtrack of Aamir Khan-Kajol starrer “Fanaa” (2006), for which Jatin-Lalit composed the music contains the song “Fanaa For You” which is a DJ Aqeel remix of “Chaand Sifaarish”. In the film “Go” (2007) he left his mark on two tracks-“Go” and “Kaash”. Kunal Kohli’s 2008 film “Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic” carries two remix tracks by DJ Aqeel, namely “Lazy Lamhe (Remix)” and “Nihaal Ho Gayi (Remix)” on the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy directed soundtrack.
He is married to Faarah Khan Ali, daughter of actor Sanjay Khan and they have two children, Azaan and Fizaa.
