Consisting of brothers Mandhir Pandit and Jatin Pandit, Mandhir-Jatin were a music director duo in Bollywood in the 1980s. Once they went their separate ways in 1990, Jatin formed a hit partnership with his second brother Lalit as Jatin-Lalit.
They hail from the Mewati gharana and are the sons of classical musician Pt. Pratap Narayan, brothers of actresses and singers Sulakshana and Vijeta and nephews of classical maestro Pt. Jasraj. They debuted as music directors with “Dil Hi Dil Mein” in 1982 in which Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Vijeta Pandit and Sulakshana Pandit lent their voices to the soundtrack. When they composed for “Bhai Ke Dushman Bhai” in 1988 the lyrics were written by Anjaan. They had a chance to work with Kishore Kumar when he sang “Yeh Sach Hai” in “Wafa” (1990), their last movie together.
