Jag Phool Kaushik aka J.P. Kaushik was a music director in the Hindi film industry during the 1960s and 70s. He has composed music for over 50 Hindi, Haryanvi, Rajasthani and English films. He won the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2010.
“Shehar Aur Sapna” (1963) was his debut movie as a music director and it was K.A. Abbas who gave him that break. Hindi movies to his credit include “Hamara Ghar” (1964), “Bambai Raat Ki Bahon Mein” (1967), “Saat Hindustani” (1969) and “Dhamaka” (1980). “Sare Jahan Se Achha” (“Aaj Ki Awaz”, 1984), “Ae Janeman Nadan Na Ban” (“Basti Aur Bazaar”, 1973), “Ae Raat Zara Aahista Guzar” (“Aasmaan Mahal”, 1965) and “Tu Akela Nahi” (“Sister”, 1982) are some of the Hindi songs he has composed.
