Monali Thakur is a playback singer and actress in the Hindi film industry. She came into the limelight as a contestant on the music reality show, Indian Idol.
Hailing form Bengal, Monali was born on 3 November 1985, into a family of musicians. Her father, Shakti Takur and sister, Mehuli Thakur are both playback singers. She has received training in music under Pandit Jagdish Prasad in Kolkota.
Her struggles in Bollywood were behind her with the Pritam songs “Khwab Dekhe” and “Zara Zara Touch Me” in “Race” (2008). The popularity of “Zara Zara Touch Me” won her an IIFA nomination for Best Playback Singer (Female).
