Ram Bhardwaj was a poet and lyricist in the Hindi film industry. He is acclaimed film and music director Vishal Bhardwaj’s father.

Ram Bhardwaj was an often-transferred sugarcane inspector employed by the government of Uttar Pradesh. During his free time he wrote songs for Hindi movies. Although he never became a big name lyricist, he did work with music directors like Usha Khanna, Kalyanji - Anandji and Laxmikant - Pyarelal.

Ram Bhardwaj died prematurely of heart attack in 1984 when Vishal was only 19 years old.
