Sagar Desai is a playback singer and music director in Hindi films. Active since 2006, he has scored music in over a dozen films.
He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, USA figuring out the keyboard. He is an architect by qualification. He moved to Chennai to help a friend produce an album. There he met Sandeep Chowta and moved to Mumbai to pursue his career in music. In Mumbai he worked with the likes of Vishal-Shekhar, Pritam, Sandesh Shandilya, Sivamani and Aadesh Shrivastva. He also formed the band Zambezi Funk with rapper friend Blaaze.
He went solo as a music director in 2006 with Rajat Kapoor’s “Mixed Doubles”. He has been the composer for movies like “Bheja Fry” (2007), “Meridian” (2007), “Mithya” (2008), “Straight” (2009) and “The Japanese Wife” (2010).
In “Quickgun Murugan” (2009) he composed three songs, “Mind It (Tamil Bhangra)”, “Kyoon Keeda Hai Aapko?” and “Ek Tha Murugun”. In the 2012 film “Fatso”, in addition to being its music director, he has also sung the songs “Fat People Get On the Floor” and “Dil Yeh Keha Raha Hai”.
