Vinod was the pseudonym used by playback singer and music director Eric Roberts.
Born in Lahore, he took music lessons with Pandit Amar Nath, a music director. He was 17 when his debut record "Samne Aaga Koi Jalwa" was released. Though his career as a composer began in 1946, it was the song "Lara Lappa Lara Lappa" in the 1949 film “Ek Thi Ladki” that made him a household name. He went on to compose for around 30 more films in Bollywood and also sang songs in a few films.
He died young when he was only 37 years old.
