This song featuring Rajesh Khanna may have inspired the title of a shelved film he produced in 1990. Both films had R.D. Burman's music and Anand Bakshi's lyrics.[1]
R.D. Burman went over budget for this song due to the elaborate chorus and arrangements used in it. As a result, producer J. Om Prakash had incurred an expense of Rs. 50,000 to record it. Om Prakash was very unhappy and had complained incessantly to Burman about it. Kishore Kumar, who had overheard the producer's complaints, improvised in the song's closing section and playfully said "Arey bajao re bajao, imaandaari se bajao. Arey bajao pachaas hazar kharcha kar diye."![2]
The film "War" (2019), starring J. Om Prakash's grandson Hrithik Roshan, featured a song with the same title that was said to be a tribute to the filmmaker.[3]
