- This song was inspired by the song "Murtimant Bheeti Ubhi" from the Marathi play "Sangeet Sharada" (1889). The Marathi song was composed and written by the play's writer Govind Ballal Deval.[1][MR3]
- Upon hearing this song, Hindustani classical vocalist Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali had this to say about Lata Mangeshkar's singing - "Kambakht kabhi besuri nahin hoti." ("She never sings out of tune."). Pandit Jasraj, who was with the Ustad at that time, recounted this story in an interview.[MR7]
