It was in this song that a meend (continuous notes) was played on a santoor for the first time in a Hindi film song. The santoor player was Pandit Ulhas Bapat. Bapat had demonstrated this style of playing the santoor to R.D. Burman while riding with him in his car. Burman was so impressed with it that he wanted this style included in this song. The meend can be heard in the interlude after the mukhda and between the two antaras. Burman included Bapat's santoor meend in several songs after this including "Mera Kuchh Saamaan" ("Ijaazat", 1988).[1]
