This song was based on the tune of the Tamil film song "Mammama Maamathe" ("Mangamma Sabatham", 1943) composed by S Rajeswara Rao and M.D. Parthasarathy. The same tune was also used in the Telugu remake for the song "Mammama Maamari" ("Mangala", 1951). The Tamil song itself used the tune of the Portuguese language song "Mama Eu Quero" originally written and recorded by Brazilian artists Vicente Paiva and Jararaca in 1937 and popularised by Carmen Miranda in 1940. This tune was also used for the Telugu film song "Mamayyochede Mama" ("Mangalasutram", 1946) and the theme music in the opening credits of "Farar (Dev Anand In Goa)" (1951) and inspired the mukhda of the song "Mamaiya Kero Kero Kero Mama" ("Arjun", 1985).[1][2][3][4][5][6]
