S.D. Burman decided to not use Basu Chakravarty and Manohari Singh as his arrangers during the making of this film. This was the only song left to record when he made this decision. Consequently, he decided to keep the musical arrangement of the song minimal, with the vocals largely supported by Shivkumar Sharma's santoor and Hari Prasad Chaurasia's flute. In fact, on Burman's instructions, Sharma and Chaurasia themselves composed the pieces they played in the song.[1]
