Trivia

    Album

  • This was the directorial debut of Bedabrata Pain, a NASA scientist turned inventor who invested his savings to make this film. His wife Shonali Bose co-wrote the film with him. Pain won the National Film Award for the Best Debut Film of a Director for this film.[1]
  • In 2010, an angry Anurag Kashyap wrote a Facebook post in which he accused Amitabh Bachchan of causing the delay of this film. Kashyap alleged that Amitabh did so because he "was trying desperately to save his son’s career". Abhishek Bachchan's film "Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey" (2010) was due to be released at around the same time as this film. Kashyap claimed that since both films were based on the true story of the Chittagong uprising of 1930, Amitabh Bachchan had engineered the delay of this film so its release did not clash with the release of his son's film. According to Pain, however, it was the distributors who had caused his film's delay. Anurag Kashyap and Amitabh Bachchan appeared to patch up two years later when the senior actor attended a special screening of this film.[2][3][4][5]
  • Shonali Bose and Bedabrata Pain were working together on the film initially. When their son Ishan died, they decided to separate. Bose did not get involved in the film's post-production.[6]

    Song

  • Ishan - This song was sung by the film's director Bedabrata Pain. It was a tribute to his son Ishan who passed away before the film's initially scheduled release. Before the film's end credits rolled, an image of Ishan was shown with the message "This film is for you my little boy. You'll always remain with me forever an inspiration and forever young".[7]
