Chandrani Mukherjee was a playback singer in the Hindi film industry. Her film music career took off with the 1975 film “Aag Aur Toofan” where she sang “Dil Aaj Bahut Khush Hai” under the music direction of N. Dutta. Her last song in Bollywood was “Pehle Tum Phir Aap”, a duet with Kumar Sanu for the 1993 Dimple Kapadia starrer “Aaj Ki Aurat”.
She has been nominated for Best Female Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards thrice for “Pehchan To Thi” (“Griha Pravesh”, 1980), “Mohabbat Rang Layegi” (“Poonam”, 1980) and “Aaja Ke Teri Raah Mein” (“Lal Chunariya”, 1983) but never managed to win one.
She has worked with music directors like Bappi Lahiri, Raj Kamal, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Chand Pardesi, Rajesh Roshan, Shankar-Jaikishan, Ajay Swami, Ravindra Jain and Kanu Roy. She has collaborated with other melodious voices in the industry like Shailendra Singh, Anuradha Paudwal, Anwar, Preeti Sagar, Hemalatha, Kishore Kumar, Suresh Wadkar and Jaspal Singh.
