Clinton Cerejo is a versatile musician who has played a number of roles in the ad and film music industry. His career, that began by performing in college festivals, soon took him to the recording studio for an English song in a Marathi movie. He went on to do advertisement jingles with Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy, Lezz Lewis, Ranjit Barot and Louis Banks.
His big break came when he got the opportunity to sing for A. R. Rahman in the Tamil films “Taj Mahal” (1999), “Alaiypayuthey” (2000) and “Kandukonden Kandukonden” (2000). Despite his early success in these films, the Hindi film industry took some time to warm up to him. However, over the years, his collaborations with the likes of A.R. Rahman, Salim - Sulaiman, Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy and Vishal Bhardwaj and his focus on music production instead of singing, established him as a leading vocal arranger and programmer in Hindi film music.
Some of his popular songs as a singer are “Kya Karoon” (“Wake Up Sid”, 2009), “Hey Ya!” (“Karthik Calling Karthik”, 2010) and “I Love You” (“Bodyguard”, 2011). Clinton has produced and programmed almost all Vishal Bhardwaj compositions over the last few years, including blockbusters like “Omkara” (2006), “Kaminey” (2009) and “Ishqiya” (2010). His prominent vocal arrangements include the Oscar nominated Dido - A.R. Rahman song “If I Rise” and A. R. Rahman’s “Sadda Haq” (“Rockstar”, 2011). Clinton’s forays into music composition have been few and far between - for “Jawani Diwani” (2006) and for “Pyar Ka Punchnama” (2011). He produced one of the episodes of the second season of Coke Studio, India which was appreciated for songs like "Madari", "Saathi Salaam" and "Banjara".
Clinton is married to singer Dominique Cerejo.
