Pamela Jain is a playback singer in Bollywood. Excluding Hindi, she has also sung in languages like Bengali, Marathi, Oriya, Gujarati, Bhojpuri and Punjabi. Born into the Bengali family of Kamelesh and Shakuntala Basu, Pamela is the granddaughter of Bengali novelist Bimal Mitra.
Brought up in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, she has trained under Pandit Bimalendu Mukherjee and Pandit Aaskan Sharma. She won the music reality show “Meri Awaz Suno” in 1998.
Her career began with Rajesh Roshan’s “Na Tum Jaano Na Hum” in 2000 where she sang “Dil Leke” and “Haye Ram”. Following the success of “Haye Ram”, her next chartbuster song was “Kahan Pe Meri Jaan Jaoge” from “Calcutta Mail” (2003). Some of the other movies to her credit are “Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche” (2002), “Jaani Dushman” (2002), “Vivah” (2006), “Haal-E-Dil (2008) and “What’s Your Raashee?” (2009).
Music directors she has worked with include Ravindra Jain, Anand Raj Anand, A. R. Rahman, Pritam, Lalit Sen, Sandesh Sandiliya and Sohail Sen.
