Rani Malik was a popular lyricist in the Hindi film industry, who gave a number of superhits during the 1990s. Her lines “Dheere Dheere Se Mere Zindagi Mein Aana” in the film “Aashiqui” (1990) won her a nomination at the 36th Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist.
Few famous songs written by her include “Tumse Milne Ko Dil Karta Hai” from “Phool Aur Kaante” (1991), “Chhupaana Bhi Nahi Aata” (“Baazigar”, 1993) and “Chura Ke Dil Mera” from “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” (1994).
Music directors like Nadeem–Shravan, Anu Malik, Sajid–Wajid, Nikhil–Vinay, Jatin–Lalit, Naresh Sharma, Pradeep Laad and Anand Raj Anand have all composed lines penned by Malik. All the major playback singers of the 90s like Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Anu Malik, Anuradha Paudwal, Alisha Chinai, Vinod Rathod, Poornima, Asha Bhosle, Udit Narayan, Govinda, Sadhana Sargam, Jaspinder Narula, Pankaj Udhas, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Chitra and S. P. Balasubramaniam have lent their voices to her songs.
