Trivia

    Album

  • Filmmaker M.V. Raman remade this film in Tamil as "Athisaya Penn" (1959). Vyajaythimala reprised her lead role in it.

    Song

  • Chal Chal Re Kanhai Chhalia - This was among the few films Asha Parekh acted in before she got opportunities in lead roles. She made a cameo appearance in the film for this song and a scene following it. She performed a dance as Krishna in the song to Vyjayanthimala's Radha. Parekh revealed later that she was a big fan of Vyjayanthimala and that while shooting for "Teesri Manzil" (1966), she had once sneaked onto the sets of "Amrapali" (1966) with Shammi Kapoor to watch her idol perform. The real-life Vyajanthimala fan also played the role of one in the film "Jawan Muhabat" (1971).[1][2][3][4]
  • Tu Na Aaya Aur Hone Lagi Shaam Re Saanwariya Main Khadi Rahoon Ki Chali Jaoon Re - It appears that it was Lata Mangeshkar who suggested the tune for the mukhda of this song to C. Ramchandra. In an interview, she said that she had learnt the tune from her maternal grandmother. Laxmikant - Pyarelal also used the same tune twice - for "Meri Patli Kamar Lambe Baal Re Saanwariya Main Khadi Rahoon Ki Chali Jaoon Re" ("Mere Lal", 1966) and "Saanwariya Main Khadi Rahoon Ki Chali Jaoon Re (Mori Patli Kamar Lambe Baal Re)" ("Aatank", 1996).[5][6][7]
  • Eena Meena Deeka (Female) - Pyarelal Sharma played the violin in this song. This was before he paired up with Laxmikant Kudalkar to form the famous Laxmikant - Pyarelal music director duo.[MR7]
  • Eena Meena Deeka (Female) - The tune of this song and the lyrics of a portion of its mukhda were reused for a song in the Tamil remake of the film. The Tamil film song was composed by S.M. Subbaiah Naidu and its two versions were sung by P. Susheela and T.M. Soundararajan.
  • Eena Meena Deeka (Male) - C. Ramchandra conceived the nonsensical lyrics of the song's mukhda when he was working one day and was distracted by his children who were singing the nursery rhyme "Eenie Meenie Miny Moe". His Goan assistant John Gomes added the Konkani line "Maaka Naaka", meaning "I don't want". The two then went on to compose the tune based on these dummy lyrics which Rajendra Krishan retained in the final song.[8]
