Trivia

    Album

  • The film was a big hit and remains the film actor-filmmaker Bhagwan is best remembered for. It was his first film as a producer-director. He attempted to replicate its success in his next film "Jhamela" (1953) with some of the same cast and crew members, including himself and Geeta Bali in lead roles, C. Ramchandra as the music director and Rajendra Krishan as the lyricist. He went on to direct two films whose titles referenced this film - "Shola Jo Bhadke" (1961), based on the title of a song in this film, and "La Bela" (1966), a play on its title.[1][2][3]
  • This film inspired the title of the Marathi biopic of Bhagwan, "Ekk Albela" (2016). Three hit songs from the film - "Shola Jo Bhadke Dil Mera Dhadke", "Bholi Surat Dil Ke Khote" and "Shaam Dhale Khidki Tale Tum Seeti Bajaana Chhod Do" - were recreated for the biopic.

    Song

  • Dheere Se Aaja Ri Ankhiyan Mein Nindiya (Female) - C. Ramachandra is said to have received the lyrics for this song just two hours before the recording was scheduled. He reportedly composed its tune in the car on his way to the studio.[MR3]
  • Deewana Parwana Shama Pe Aaya Leke Dil Ka Nazrana - Chic Chocolate, music director C. Ramchandra's assistant in this film, appeared on-screen in this song along with his band. He can be seen playing the trumpet in the song sequence.
  • Kismat Ki Hawa Kabhi Naram Kabhi Garam (O Beta Ji) - Portions of this song were prominently featured in the Hindi film "Ludo" (2020).[4]
  • Dheere Se Aaja Ri Ankhiyan Mein Nindiya (Duet) - The tune for this song was inspired by the Marathi film song "Anganat Phulalya Jaijui" ("Payachi Dasi", 1941). The Marathi song was composed by Annasaheb Mainkar and sung by Saraswati Rane.[5]
  • Shola Jo Bhadke Dil Mera Dhadke - This song inspired the title of another film by Bhagwan, "Shola Jo Bhadke" (1961).[6]
