- After Himanshu Rai's Bombay Talkies shut down in 1954, the artists associated with the company got together to produce this film under the banner of Bombay Talkies Workers' Industrial Co-operative Society. Many members of the film's cast and crew, including Dev Anand, Meena Kumari, Usha Kiran, Jairaj, Leela Chitnis. Phani Majumdar. Timir Baran and S.K. Pal, expressed their gratitude to the banner by working for free. Bombay Talkies's last productions were "Maa" (1952) and "Tamasha" (1952) and their last release was "Shamsheer" (1953).[1][2][3][MR1]
