Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first of the three anthology films in which filmmakers Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar worked together. Each film featured four sections - one by each director. The other two films in this anthology series were "Lust Stories" (2018) and "Ghost Stories" (2020), both of which were released on Netflix.[1][2]
  • The film celebrated the centenary of Indian films. It was released on May 3 2013 to commemorate the release of India's first feature film - Dadasaheb Phalke's "Raja Harishchandra" which was released on May 3, 1913. It took its title from a film production company founded by Himanshu Rai and Devika Rani in 1934. Each section in the film - titled "Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh", "Star", "Sheila Ki Jawani", and "Murabba" - touched upon films, their stars, and music and their impact on Indians. Amitabh Bachchan appeared as himself in "Murabba".
  • Dibakar Banerjee's section in the film was based on Satyajit Ray's story "Potol Babu Filmstar". The director himself scored the music for the section based on Rabindranath Tagore's song "Tobu Mone Rekho".
  • This was actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar's last released Hindi film before his death in 2014.
