Trivia

    Album

  • Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna had been cast together in the film "Garajna" (1991) before this film. The music of "Garajna" was released in 1991 but the film itself remains unreleased.[1]
  • Shiv - Hari developed a background music piece they had composed for this film to come up with the tune for the song "Kabhi Main Kahoon" ("Lamhe", 1991).[2]
  • This was the first film in which Sridevi dubbed for herself. Actress Naaz had dubbed for her in many of her earlier films. Naaz is best remembered for her roles as a child artist, for which she was credited as Baby Naaz.[3]
  • This film was originally envisaged as a tragedy, with the second half of the film involving a child born to Sridevi's character. During the film's muhurat shot, Yash Chopra had a change of heart and decided to revamp the film's second half so that the film ended on a happy note.[4]
  • Yash Chopra started making this film while he was still working on "Vijay" (1988). According to him, while "Vijay" (1988) was a "compromise" film, this was a film he truly believed in and was eager to make.[5][6]
  • Sridevi's signature costume in this film - a white churidar, kurta and a lahariya dupatta - was created by Leena Daru since the film's costume designer Bhanu Athaiya was not available at the time. This costume went on to become a rage all over North India.

    Song

  • Chandni O Meri Chandni - The UK-based bhangra-pop band RDB recreated this song for the film "Chaar Din Ki Chandni" (2012).[7]
  • Tere Mere Hothon Pe Meethe Meethe Geet Mitwa - This was singer Babla Mehta's debut Hindi film song. He was best known for his covers of Mukesh's songs.
