Trivia

    Album

  • This was Guru Dutt Films' first production after the debacle of "Kaagaz Ke Phool" (1959). Guru Dutt decided not to direct the film and handed the reins to M. Sadiq, who had several films under his belt but no hits. Dutt felt that Sadiq's background would help him bring authenticity to this Muslim social drama. This was music director Ravi's first film with Guru Dutt. The filmmaker had a disagreement with S.D. Burman during the making of "Kaagaz Ke Phool" (1959) and they never worked together again.[1][MR60]

    Song

  • Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho - The tune of this song was plagiarised by Rajan - Nagendra for the Telugu film song "Neeli Megha Malavo" ("Madana Kamaraju Katha", 1962).[2]
  • Bedardi Mera Saiyan - Music director Ravi tried this song out with Geeta Dutt a few times before concluding that Asha Bhosle's voice would work better for it.[MR4]
  • Badle Badle Mere Sarkar Nazar Aate Hain - Ravi may have adapted the tune of C. Ramchandra's "Mujhse Mat Poochh Mere Ishq Mein Kya Rakha Hai" ("Anarkali", 1953) for this song.[3]
