Trivia

    Album

  • This was one of the two films in which Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit worked together in 1990. The other film was "Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin" (1990). Incidentally, both films had music by Anand - Milind and lyrics by Sameer. The actors never worked together as a leading pair again.[1]
  • Producer Indra Kumar turned director with this film.
  • This film was remade in Telugu as "Tholi Muddhu" (1993) and in Kannada as "Shivaranjani" (1997).
  • Alka Yagnik had a major fallout with Anuradha Paudwal and T-Series when her songs in this film were recorded over by Anuradha Paudwal on T-Series' insistence.

    Song

  • O Priya Priya - This song was plagiarised from the identically titled Telugu film song from the film "Geethanjali" (1989). The original song was composed by Ilaiyaraaja and sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam and Chitra.[2]
  • Mujhe Neend Na Aaye - This song was plagiarised from the track "Chunni Ud Ud Jae" (1986) by the UK-based Bhangra pop group Alaap. The song was also plagiarised for the Punjabi language Pakistani film "Jan Nisar" (1989).[3][4]
  • Aaj Na Chhodoonga Tujhe Dum Duma Dum - Director Indra Kumar could not shoot this song because he had run out of funds. The film did not include this song on its release. However, when the film became a hit, Indra Kumar shot the song and re-released the new prints in theatres. He had started work on his next film by this time and it was on the sets of "Beta" (1992) that he shot this song.[5][6]
  • Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai - This song may have been inspired by the rock-and-roll song "Blue Suede Shoes" first recorded by Carl Perkins in 1955 and later covered by many other artists including Elvis Presley.[7][8]
