Trivia

    Album

  • This was Tinu Anand's directorial debut. While he wrote the film's story, its script was written by his father Inder Raj Anand. The film was co-produced by his younger brother Bittu Anand.
  • This film was Rishi Kapoor's idea. Kapoor was Bittu Anand's friend and expressed interest in working in a film produced by him and directed by Tinu Anand. Since Tinu Anand was working as Satyajit Ray's assistant at the time, Kapoor said that he was looking for ideas that were "not a Ray story"! When the film was launched in 1975, Tinu Anand had wanted to cast Amitabh Bachchan as the brother of Rishi Kapoor's character. However, Rishi Kapoor, who was still new in the industry, had been unwilling to work opposite the more established Amitabh and had asked that his uncle, Shashi Kapoor be cast in that role instead. Since Rishi Kapoor was working in the film without a fee, Anand had agreed to cast Shashi Kapoor instead. That decision resulted in the film taking a long time to finish since Shashi Kapoor was very busy at the time and was able to devote very little time for this film.[1]
