Trivia

    Album

  • This was the last of Basu Bhattacharya's trilogy of films which told stories of marital discord in modern, urban families. The other films in the trilogy were "Anubhav" (1971) and "Aavishkar" (1973). All three films had music by Kanu Roy. Ironically, for someone who depicted marital life with great sensitivity, Basu Bhattacharya himself had a tumultuous married life. He married Rinki Bhattacharya, the daughter of his mentor, director Bimal Roy, in 1961 against the wishes of Roy. After years of abuse, Rinki left Basu Bhattacharya in 1982 and went on to make documentaries and write extensively on the topic of domestic violence. The couple got formally divorced in 1990.[1][2][3]

    Song

  • Zindagi Phoolon Ki Nahin - Gulzar wrote the mukhda of this song by translating Bengali lines from director Basu Bhattacharya's brief to him. Gulzar didn't like the lyrics too much since he felt it was more wordplay than poetry. However, Basu Bhattacharya loved the lyrics and insisted on keeping it.[4]
  • Logon Ke Ghar Mein Rehta Hoon - I - The lyricist of this song, Gulzar, made an on-screen appearance in this song.
  • Baat Niklegi To Phir Door Talak Jayegi - This song was taken from Jagjit Singh's ghazal album "The Unforgettables" (1976). It featured in the film's background score but was not part of its audio release.
