Trivia

    Album

  • According to director Ali Abbas Zafar, this was the last script Yash Chopra heard during his lifetime. Zafar's script was inspired by the Yash Chopra films "Deewaar" (1975) and "Kaala Patthar" (1979) and was set in the same time period as these films.[1][2][3]
  • The film used the formation of Bangladesh in 1971 as a backdrop of its story. However, its depiction of the events that led to Bangladesh's freedom did not go down well with Bangladeshis. They believed that the film undermined the struggles of the Bangladeshi freedom fighters and showed Bangladeshis, in general, in poor light. Taking note of these objections, the government of Bangladesh expressed its "sense of hurt and disappointment" to the Indian government and asked that the screening of the film be stopped. In response, Yash Raj Films issued a statement apologising for the "disrespect or hurt" caused by the film.[4]
