Trivia

    Album

  • The film premiered at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles in April 2015. However, its theatrical release was delayed due to various reasons. It was finally released in India in January 2017.
  • Balbharati - the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production & Curriculum Research - objected to the posters of this film which showed actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathi reading a book together. The bureau alleged that the design of the poster was similar to an old Sindhi language textbook published by them. Additionally, they said that the image of the actors on the poster resembled the Balbharati logo. When Balbharati threatened legal action, the makers of the film withdrew the posters in question.[1][2]
  • The CBFC refused to certify the film because of its theme - the affair between a teacher and his minor student. They claimed that it showed teachers in a poor light and that this was "unacceptable to the society". The makers of the film approached the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to appeal against CBFC's decision. About a year later, FCAT gave the film a 'U/A' certificate and even complimented it for "furthering a social message and warning the girls to be aware of their rights".[3][4]
  • This was Shlok Sharma's directorial debut. Sharma had directed a short film titled "Sujata" with actress Shweta Tripathi earlier. Impressed by her work, he asked her to work with him on his first feature film. They were supposed to work on another film which fell through. Sharma then wrote this film specifically for her. This was Shweta Tripathi's debut film but due to the delay in its release, "Masaan" (2015) became her first released film.[5][6][7]
  • This low-budget film was shot in just 16 days.[8]
