Trivia

    Album

  • This film was remade in Telugu as "Trinetrudu" (1988) starring Chiranjeevi.
  • This was the debut film of actress Archana Puran Singh. It remains Doordarshan newsreader Tejeshwar Singh's only Hindi film. In a tongue-in-cheek reference to his background, his character was named DD. Actor Cyrus Broacha also debuted in this film.
  • This was Naseeruddin Shah's first foray into a commercial action thriller. He transformed his appearance to play the role of a clean-shaven, well-built cop in this film.
  • This was an uncredited remake of the Hollywood action-comedy "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984) starring Eddie Murphy. Pankaj Parashar had apparently met the director of "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984) Martin Brest once and told him that he had remade his film without his permission.[1]
  • Amitabh Bachchan appeared in a cameo playing himself in this film. He was initially supposed to speak just one word in the film - "No". However, by the time his scene was shot, a pageful of lines had been written in for him, which he had delivered in a single take. His payment for this film was a flower bouquet.[2]
  • This was Goan musician Remo Fernandes' first commercial Hindi film. He had earlier composed songs for Shyam Benegal's "Trikal" (1987).
  • Naseeruddin Shah's character in this film tells his mother, played by Kamini Kaushal, about going to the theatres to watch her favourite actor Dilip Kumar's film "Nadiya Ke Paar" (1948). This was an in-joke - Kamini Kaushal herself happened to be the heroine of "Nadiya Ke Paar" (1948).[3]
  • Farah Khan appeared as a dancer in this film but wasn't credited in it.
  • Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee featured in a cameo role in this film. He appeared in a scene that spoofed on his popular TV serial "Rajani".[4]

    Song

  • Dekho Dekho Yeh Hai Jalwa - This song, the film's most popular one, wasn't originally supposed to be in it. Director Pankaj Parashar had heard Remo Fernandes playing it when he was passing by the singer's house late at night one day. He had liked the song so much that he had asked Remo for a scratch recording right then and there, and the singer had obliged.[5]
