Trivia

    Album

  • This film was inspired by a real-life hit-and-run case. In this infamous case, Sanjeev Nanda, the grandson of former Naval Chief S.M. Nanda, was found guilty of killing six persons after losing control of his speeding car. The case drew a lot of media attention since Nanda came from an influential family.[1]
  • Encouraged by the film's success, writer, director Subhash Kapoor followed up this film with a spiritual successor in 2017. Saurabh Shukla and Sanjay Mishra reprised their roles in the sequel.[2]
  • The film was remade in Tamil as "Manithan" (2016).
  • This was actor Ramesh Deo's return to Hindi films after a long break. He was 84 years old at the time.

    Song

  • Mere To L Lag Gaye - The song was not used in the film. However, there was a reference to it in a courtroom scene depicting a plagiarism case involving music directors Sangeet Lahiri and Sargam Kumar. The character of Sangeet Lahiri was a parody of Bappi Lahiri, who also sang this song, and the character of Sargam Kumar was based on Himesh Reshammiya. Sangeet Lahiri wore gold chains and Sargam Kumar used the line "Jai Mata di, let's rock!" to allude to the real-life music directors their characters were based on. There were two versions of this song in the film's soundtrack album. Their title was a reference to a profane phrase in Hindi.
