Trivia

    Album

  • This film was director K.S. Sethumadhavan's remake of his hit Malayalam film "Chattakkari" (1974) which was adapted from a novel of the same name by Pamman. The film saw actress Lakshmi reprising the lead role. The Malayalam film had a few other remakes - "Miss Julie Prema Katha" (1975) starring Lakshmi in Telugu, "Oh Maane Maane" (1984) starring Urvashi in Tamil, "Julie" (2006) starring Divya Spandana aka Ramya in Kannada, and "Chattakkari" (2012) in Malayalam directed by Santhosh Sethumadhavan, K.S. Sethumadhavan's son, and starring Shamna Kasim. The Hindi film of the same title released in 2004 and its sequel released in 2017 had no connection with this film.[1][2]
  • Rajesh Roshan won his first Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for this film. His next Filmfare award came 25 years later for the film "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" (2000).[3]
  • Every Hindi film B. Nagi Reddy produced after this film had music by Rajesh Roshan.

    Song

  • Dil Kya Kare Jab Kisi Se Kisi Ko Pyar Ho Jaye - This song was recreated by Gourov - Roshin for the film "Kaabil" (2016).[4]
  • Dil Kya Kare Jab Kisi Se Kisi Ko Pyar Ho Jaye - The whistle in this song was rendered by Nagesh Surve. He made his beginning in Hindi films with this song. He went on to perform whistling solos in hundreds of Hindi film songs in the decades to come.[5]
  • Yeh Raatein Nayi Purani - The tune of this song's mukhda may have inspired music director Satyam's composition for the mukhda of the Telugu film song "Eeroju Manchi Roju" ("Prema Lekhalu", 1977).[6]
  • My Heart Is Beating - This was a rare Hindi film song with all-English lyrics. It became singer Preeti Sagar's signature song. She got a Filmfare Award nomination for the song but didn't win it. She subsequently won the award for the song "Mero Gaam Kaatha Paarey" ("Manthan", 1977).[7]
