Trivia

    Album

  • This film was dedicated to Madan Mohan who passed away during its making. Madan Mohan had recorded six songs for the film before he died. Jaidev stepped in after his death and composed its remaining songs. The film's audio releases credited Madan Mohan and Jaidev together for the film's music. The details of the songs recorded by Madan Mohan came to be known later.[1]
  • The producers of this film wanted Kishore Kumar to sing for Rishi Kapoor. Kishore was extremely popular in the 1970s and had sung for Rishi Kapoor before. However, Madan Mohan insisted on having Mohammed Rafi sing for Rishi Kapoor, and director H.S. Rawail agreed.[2]
  • This was actress Ranjeeta's debut Hindi film.
  • Jaidev composed music for Sahir Ludhianvi's lyrics after more than a decade for this film. The last time they had worked together was for "Mujhe Jeene Do" (1963). Jaidev and Sahir had gotten into an argument during its making over what mattered more - the contribution of the music director or the lyricist. Things had gotten out of hand and they had parted ways. Sahir had stopped working with S.D. Burman due to a similar disagreement over the success of "Pyaasa" (1957).[3][4][MR5]

    Song

  • Husn Hazir Hai Mohabbat Ki Saza Paane Ko - The mukhda of this song was adapted from a couplet by Turab Kakorvi - "Shahar mein apne yeh Laila ne munaadi kar di / Koi patthar se na maare mere deewane ko".
  • Likh Kar Tera Naam Zamin Par (Kehna Ek Deewana) - According to Madan Mohan's official website, Madan Mohan had left behind a rough tune for this song and Jaidev took it to completion after his death.[5]
