Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on the Marathi play "Vahato Hi Durvanchi Judi" by Bal Kolhatkar.
  • Salil Chowdhury extended a background cue used in this film into the song "Rajnigandha Phool Tumhare" ("Rajnigandha", 1974).[1]

    Song

  • Marzi Hai Tumhari - The harmonium player who was initially hired for this song could not do justice to the harmonium solos in it. Salil Chowdhury himself stepped in then and played the harmonium for this song.[2]
  • Pyas Liye Manwa Hamara Yeh Tarse - Salil Chowdhury's composition for this song was based on a Sri Lankan folk song. He had previously used this tune in two other songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar - the non-film Bengali song "Saat Bhai Champa Jagore" (1961) and the Marathi film song "Preet Phule Majhi Soneri" ("Sunbai", 1962).[3][4]
  • Mere Bhaiya (Bhaiya Re Bhaiya O Ta Ta Thaiya) - Salil Chowdhury had originally composed the tune of this song for the Bengali non-film song "Aay Bristi Jhenpe" (1953), sung by Sandhya Mukherjee. He used the tune again for the Tamil film song "Sevvali Poove" ("Doorathu Idi Muzhakkam", 1980), sung by P. Susheela.[5]
