Trivia

    Song

  • Thandi Hawayen Lehra Ke Aaye - Roshan adapted the tune of this song to compose another popular song, "Rahen Na Rahen Hum" ("Mamta", 1966). He sought S.D. Burman's approval for this by sending word through his son R.D. Burman.[1][MR4]
  • Thandi Hawayen Lehra Ke Aaye - This S.D. Burman song inspired several other Hindi film songs over the years. These included - "Tera Dil Kahan Hai" ("Chandni Chowk", 1954), "Yehi Hai Tamanna Tere Dar Ke Samne" ("Aap Ki Parchhaiyan", 1964), "Rahen Na Rahen Hum" ("Mamta", 1966), "Hamen Raaston Ki Zaroorat Nahin Hai" ("Naram Garam", 1981), the title song of "Agar Tum Na Hote" (1983) and "Saagar Kinare" ("Saagar", 1985). The Tamil film song "Konjum Puraave" ("Thai Ullam", 1952) sung by M.L. Vasanthakumari was also based on the same tune.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
  • Thandi Hawayen Lehra Ke Aaye - This was lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi's breakthrough song in Hindi films. He had debuted earlier in "Azadi Ki Raah Par" (1948) but his film career had stagnated after that. He was struggling to make ends meet when his friend, filmmaker Mohan Segal, told him that music director S.D. Burman was looking for a lyricist for his next film. Following through on his friend's tip, Sahir approached Burman at Green Hotel, Bombay where Burman was put up. Unaware of Sahir's credentials in the literary world, the composer played him a tune and asked him to write the lyrics for it. It is in these circumstances that Sahir wrote the lyrics that went on to be used as this song's mukhda. Burman was impressed with Sahir and took him to producer A.R. Kardar to be introduced as the lyricist for this film. The song became a big hit and laid the foundation for many successful collaborations between S.D. Burman and Sahir Ludhianvi over the next few years.[10][MR5]
