Trivia

    Album

  • This film was inspired by Stephen King's short story "Quitters, Inc." (1978).[1]
  • Before he backed out of it, writer, director Abbas Tyrewala was supposed to play the role that was eventually played by Ranvir Shorey in this film. Anurag Kashyap, a good friend of Abbas, included several references to him in the film instead. Ranvir Shorey's character in the film was named Abbas Tyrewala. The scene in the film in which Paresh Rawal's character threatens the film's protagonist makes references to the film "Munna Bhai M.B.B.S." (2003), "Maqbool" (2004), "Main Hoon Na" (2004), and "Salaam Namaste" (2005) - films in which Tyrewala had writing credits. Another scene with Ranvir Shorey had the line "Pakhi pakhi pardesi" from the song "Dil Se Re" ("Dil Se", 1998) playing in the background - a reference to Abbas Tyrewala's wife Pakhi.[2]
  • A line in this film made a tounge-in-cheek reference to the film's producer and music director, Vishal Bhardwaj, and lyricist, Gulzar - "Beedi jalaile ke is vishal desh mein cigar gulzar". "Beedi Jalaile Jigar Se Piya" ("Omkara", 2006) was a hit song composed by Vishal and written by Gulzar.[3]
