Trivia
- This was one of the two films in which actors Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar worked together. The other film featuring both of them came more than thirty years later - "Saudagar" (1991). A rivalry may have developed between the two actors as a result of the perception that the junior Raaj Kumar outshone Dilip Kumar in some scenes in the film. It was also said that he hit his senior so hard while filming a fight scene that the shooting had to be cancelled for the day to allow Dilip Kumar to recover.[1][2]
- Vasundhara Devi, actress Vyjayanthimala's mother, played her mother in the film as well. This was her only Hindi film.
- Producer-director S.S. Vasan remade this film in Tamil as "Irumbu Thirai" (1960). Several actors who worked in the film, including Vyjayanthimala, B. Saroja Devi, Pandari Bai, and Vasundhara Devi, reprised their roles in the remake.
