Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first Hindi film of actress Meenakshi Sheshadri, who was adjudged Miss India 1981. While this film sank without a trace, she achieved stardom with her next film, "Hero" (1983). Born Shashikala Sheshadri, she was given her screen name by the film's producer, Manoj Kumar.[1]
  • This was the debut film of Manoj Kumar's brother, Rajeev Goswami. Manoj Kumar produced, wrote and edited the film.
  • This was the debut film of the music director duo of Uttam - Jagdish, consisting of Uttam Singh and Jagdish Khanna.

    Song

  • O Mere Sajan Barsaat Mein Aa - Mahendra Kapoor not only sang this song but also appeared on the screen as a fisherman singing it.
  • Yaar Kapada Shaandar Hai - The tune of the song's antara was based on the traditional Punjabi wedding song "Chitta Kukkad Banere Te". The same tune was used in the Hindi film songs "Kaahe Nainon Mein Kajra Bharo" ("Bari Bahoo", 1951), "Tum Rooth Ke Mat Jana" ("Phagun", 1958), "Chitta Kukkad" ("Loveshhuda", 2016), "Lamborghini" ("Jai Mummy Di", 2020), "O Mahey Naina Vich Vasda Ey Yaar" ("Akelli", 2023), and "Agar Tujhe Ho Gaya Kuchh Saari Duniya Jala Denge" ("Animal", 2023).[2][3][4][5][6][7]
  • Yaar Kapada Shaandar Hai - The last antara of this song was preceded by two lines whose tune was different from the rest of the song - "Laila Laila pukaroon main ban mein / Meri Laila basi meri man mein". The lyrics of these lines, and possibly their tune, may have owed their origin to a song from the Hindi film "Laila Majnu" (1931). It's possible that the lyrics and tune have older antecedents. They were also used in the Hindi film songs "Medley Song" ("Mr. Sampat", 1952), "Majnu Majnu Pukaroon Main Ban Mein" ("Resham", 1952), "Aata Hai Yaad Mujhko Guzra Hua Zamana" ("Shri Naqad Narayan", 1955), "Nautanki Laila Majnu" ("Bhabhi", 1957), and "Main Pagal Hoon" ("Girl Friend", 1960). The mukhda of the song "Raat Bhar Ka Hai Mehman Andhera" ("Sone Ki Chidiya", 1958) also had a similar tune.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
